George


George Belle was born in Los Angeles. His musical interests began as a percussionist in elementary school. Two years later he began flute instruction, through a gifted students program at the University of Southern California Music Department. He played flute with the USC - Orchestra and Band and with the LAPD Marching Band.

Beginning with the 1960s, George played drums with The Drifters, The Coasters, Dobbie Grey, Ethel Waters, and Lightnin Hopkins. He toured and recorded with
Pacific Gas and Electric. He has recorded flute with Ringo Starr and King Errisson.

Between the late sixties and early nineties, George engineered approximately 700 albums and 100 films, TV programs & commercials. He received two Grammy nominations and one Oscar.

George taught at Dick Grove Music in Los Angeles and at Kennedy-King College, in Chicago.
He has produced Canned Heat with The Chambers Brothers, Water Colours, and several Chicago musicians including Rinaldo Migaldi, Alicia Levy, Gina Kray,
Gary Packard, Uncle Karl & The Bad Touch
and Rhythm on 22nd.
